SAHRR '24, Round 3

This week's prompt for the Stay at Home Round Robin was by Emily @The Darling Dogwood and was to add triangles.

My project started with a baggie I found on the free table at a guild meeting.  There were a bunch of blocks already made, a bunch of flying geese and half square triangles.

I started out with these.  Some of the flying geese had white strips between them.

This is my quilt this week after my triangles are added.

Three of the corner pieces were already made, so I made one more.    These are the pieces I have left from the freebie baggie.

My plan for this will quilt be as a donation my guild will make for Mercyful Quilts here in Sacramento, CA.

    Slow Sunday Stitching

Another busy week has flown by in an instant.  Last week one of our guild members who usually attends workday at my house came by for several hours.  We organized our binding bins according to color, and cut out a bunch that will be ready to go for  next workday at the end of the month.

Wednesday was 5th Wednesday where we had 27 of our guild members bring their machines and we worked for about 4-1/2 hours quilting quilts or piecing tops.  That is the most we have had since I have been co-chair of Community Service.  One of the ladies who preps a bunch of flannel children's quilt kits, gave me several boxes of scraps, and 5 inch blocks.

What I worked on was one of my potato chip blocks, from Conquering Mt. Scrapmore  with Brenda.    I actually was able to get it together.

Thursday Cathy, my co-chair brought about 8 bags of fabric over.  Our guild inherited a bunch of fabric from a quilter who was a friend of one of our members.  She apparently has Alzheimer's and can no longer quilt.   Cathy had no further room in her garage, so I have now 5 more containers in my garage.

My PC finally downloaded the pictures from my daughter's BD a couple of weeks ago.  This is the quilt I made her.  It was just a panel quilt that I purchased the kit on Equilter.   They offered a flower fairy panel quilt kit and Kristen loves fairies.  I also made her a new mug rug for work.

This week I also put another round on my SAHRR (Stay At Home Round Robin) co-hosted by Quilting Gail.   The prompt this week was to use two colors.  I still had some blocks from the baggie I picked up from the free table at a guild meeting, so I added those on all four sides.

I worked on two other projects this week, that I can't show yet.  Both will be in the upcoming It Moose Be Love Blog Hop, hosted by Joan @Moosestash Quilting, and one will be in my upcoming guild challenge which is to show something you love or have a passion for.

For Slow Sunday Stitching I will be stitching the binding on this quilt I am giving to my friend next week for her birthday.

I'll be linking up with Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching.  Head on over and check what everyone has been working on.

We have had some rain this past week, and are due to have heavy rain Sunday and Monday.  We have flood warnings for those 2 days.  Friday afternoon I looked outside when it sounded like it was raining pretty heavy, but it was hail and it was 51 degrees outside!

    SAHRR '24, Round 2

This week's round was hosted by Anja @Anja Quilts.  Her prompt was to use two colors, you can make any block you chose.

Last week the prompt was to make signature blocks, and I just made them for the four corners as stars.

As I explained before, my center blocks were from a baggie I picked up on the free table at a guild meeting.  Everything is blue and white in the baggie.  What I chose to do for this round was add some more of those blocks on this round.  This was the result.

I will be linking up with Anja @Anja Quilts.

Below is a list of all the co-hosts for this SAHRR, from the beginning.

    Slow Sunday Stitching

It has been a couple of weeks since I checked in.  I have been busy with guild activities.  We have had some rainy days here recently.    Most of our community service fabrics are stored  in a commercial building owned by one of our members husband.  He has a train store.  Our fabrics are stored in the very back of the old, old building that unfortunately has a leak in the roof, mostly where are fabrics are stored.  And a lot of our containers apparently had no lids on them.  My co-chair Cathy and I went over several weeks ago with some new containers with lids.  We found 5 containers without lids and sitting in water.  I brought them home and spent 3 whole days washing, drying and ironing the fabric.  Some of the fabric we had to toss as it had stains that did not wash out.

We went back over this week and there was even more water than last week.  We relocated some of the bins to another area that doesn't seem to be leaking.  The owner is looking into getting it fixed we have heard.

This week was the White Rabbit Blog Hop, hosted by Carol @Just Let Me Quilt.   My day was here.

I also had workday at my house this week.   We cut batting and binding for the tops and backings we have and pack them up into kits.  The first of the month I will take them to pin basting day and then to guild meeting for people to take home.

This past week I also finished the 1st Pumpkin Village block.  I had miscut the sheep's body and head and legs, and had to go into my leftover wool and luckily found enough to recut those pieces, but it is finally done.

This week I also finished  this section of the Blessings Quilt. I now have only the last section to complete.  I am hoping to get this completed, quilted and entered in our quilt show in May.

This week we also celebrated my oldest daughter Kristen's birthday.  We had a family dinner and later in the week I went out with Kristen's friends, and my other daughter Katie and celebrated at a local bar.  It was music bingo night and we played 6 rounds, but didn't win anything, but had a lot of fun.  I had pictures to show, but I can't seem  to get the pictures to download from my Iphone into my windows computer tonight.

Another fun thing I have done this week was visit a guild member's home.  She collects doilies and laces, old linens, and she invited me to come over and pick out what I wanted.  She calls it "rescuing them".  I use things like this for my crazy quilting.  She also gifted  me an antique crazy quilt, which is disintegrating in some places.  This is the stash I brought home.

What I will be working on for Slow Sunday Stitching is my redwork Sunbonnet Sue.  I just prepared 6 blocks.  Next year our guild's show is going to be red and white quilts, so this will be my first one.

I got the iron-on patterns from this old book I had in my collection.

I will be linking up with Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching.    Head on over and see what everyone has been up to.

    SAHRR '24, Border 1

This week Wendy @Pieceful Thoughts  hosted the first round of the Stay At Home Round Robin.  She chose a signature block.  I tried to look for a different version of the signature block and finally made a decision.  I made the basic signature block and then made it into a star.

I made the four corners signature blocks, and I will wait and see what next week's prompt is.

I'll be linking up at Pieceful Thoughts of my Quilting Life.

This is the schedule for all the SAHRR co-host bloggers.

White Rabbit Blog Hop, My Day

The White Rabbit Blog Hop is started on Monday, hosted by the fabulous Carol @Just Let Me Quilt.     Many thanks to Carol for another great challenge.

The Challenge this Time:  On the first day of each month there is a tradition for people to say "White Rabbit" first thing in the morning.  The phrase is supposed to bring good luck.  Even President Roosevelt did this.

We are challenged this time to make something with white fabrics, rabbits or white rabbits.

When I heard of this challenge I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  Many, many, many years ago I started a quilt with a group of online friends.  It was the Blessings Quilt Series by Jennifer Lokey and Karen Roosien.   You could make each of the 4 sections as separate quilts, or put them all together into one quilt.  I had made first section "All Things Bright and Beautiful".  Then the whole works went into the closet since 1999. I had pattern, my completed section, and all the fabrics bagged up in a zippered bag.  The first section had an embroidered rabbit in it.

I plan to have this quilt completed for our quilt show in May, so I got busy trying to complete the rest of the sections.  I completed the "All creatures great and small" section and sewed it to the other section.

I almost got the "The Lord God Made Them All" section done, with another rabbit in it.

Be sure and visit the other bloggers below and leave a sweet comment.

    SAHRR '24, Center Block

Gail @Quilting Gail is hosting her Stay At Home Round Robin again this year.  This is one of my favorite yearly activities.  You start out with an orphan block, and each week one of the co-host SAHRR gives you a prompt of what the next round will be.

This was my finished quilt from 2023.  I donated it to Community Service at my guild.

This was my top from 2022.  I donated it to Hands2Help

This was from 2021, and I also donated it also to Hands2Help.

This year I was looking through my odds and ends basket and didn't see anything that caught my eye.  Then I caught sight of this baggie of blocks and flying geese I picked up from the free table at my guild.

I put together 4 of the blocks.  Don't know what this baggie of blocks and bits was supposed to be, but this is the center block I came up with.  I want to make it lap sized, and will be donated to the Community Service at my guild and I want it to end up rectangular.  It is starting out at 17.5 x 20.5.

This is the schedule for the SAHRR:

I will be linking up at Quilting Gail.
