Slow Sunday Stitching

Time to report in again for Slow Sunday Stitching projects at Kathy's Quilts.  Kathy is hosting her first Slow Sunday Stitching retreat today.  What a treat it would be to attend!

What I am slow stitching on for the next couple of days are a couple of gifts.

The first is for my youngest granddaughter Klara who will be 6 the end of the month.  I will be giving her a doll, but I thought I would make a little bag for her.  I'm using one of the mermaid stitcheries that Joy at Days Filled with Joy  offered last year.  I'm almost finished with this one.  The dark purple looks better than this in real life.  I was taking my pictures late last night.

Next up is one of Kathy Schmitz's patterns.  This will eventually be a gift for one of my daughter's for Christmas.  I'm taking several of these I have stitched and put them together for a small wall hanging.

I'm linking up with Kathy's Quilts Slow Sunday Stitching , and wish the retreat goers a wonderful time!

One Monthly Goal-October

October OMG link-up is open!

The Link-Up for One Monthly Goal is now available at Elm Street Quilts.  I really appreciate this monthly motivation to get things done.

This month, my goal is a big one for me.  It is also scary.  My goal is to quilt my Nutcracker Suite Quilt.

It is scary because I don't want to mess it up.  I want to do more than meandering which I am quite good at.  I want to put something in those blank spots.  If I could afford it, I would send it out to be quilted for me.

But I can't.   And I want it hanging for this Christmas.  And I am going to have to put my quilt frame away the first week of November or so, to get ready for Thanksgiving.

So my goal is to quilt and bind this quilt.

I'll be linking up with Elm Street Quilts for One Monthly Goal.  I appreciate all Patty does to motivate us!  Not to late for you to join in the fun too!

One Monthly Goal-September

My One Monthly Goal, which I stated here was to finish up a crazy quilt block for a friend.  In 2014 we exchanged blocks for the other to embellish.  Normally we would have finished and returned them long ago, but life happened for both of us, and we have put it off.  I wanted to finish her block for her October birthday and get it in the mail to her, as it is being sent overseas.  I happily finished it today.

This was how it has sat for several years.  She sent me a pieced block, but nothing else on it.  I had added some trims, and that was it.

This is her finished block from my perspective.  She will finish off the block however she wants.  The trims I added  are a lot of hand-dyed laces, vintage trims, vintage beads, hand-dyed ribbon.

I'll be linking up with Patty at Elm Street Quilts  for the One Monthly Goal link-up.  I truly appreciate this monthly motivation to keep me on track!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hand Quilt Along, Slow Sunday Stitching

The past 3 weeks has flown by, and it is time for another Hand Quilt Along report.  I've done lots of hand stitching these past three weeks.

I got 8 of these Buhl-Bushong blocks done.  I have about 56 more to go though.  I did paper piece the crowns, but hand-pieced/appliqued everything else.

I finished this Father Christmas guy.  I am trying to finish 2 more before the end of the month.  The other 2 are relatively simple, don't have the star borders.

I finished the last block of the Hospital Sketches BOM by Barbara Brackman

These are all nine blocks.  I'm going to redo the bottom middle block.  The brown/yellow just doesn't work for me.  The navy blue is fine, it is everything else.

I finished this penny rug project called All My Stars by Blackbird Designs in a book called Higdon Camp-1928.  This has been a UFO for years, and I put it on my 2019 Finish-A-Long list for quarter 4.  So I can cross that off my list.

Right now I'm working on this crazy quilt piece for a friend.  I have some more stitching in the two blue patches to do.  I think I will be able to finish this by the end of the month for my One Monthly Goal.

Check out the Hand Quilt Along links below and see what everyone has been doing.

Ella Maria Duncan Quilt Stitch it and Give It Blog Hop

I was finally able to get my 4 blocks for the Ella Maria Duncan BOM done for this month yesterday, after I got my background problems sorted out.  I ended up using another backing, and am going to use the one DH bought me, and I dyed for backing for something else.

I was able to get them done in an afternoon.  That first block on the left top, I ended up doing that green piece twice.  My first one was wonky and I couldn't live with it.  I haven't done set in seams in years, and I'm happy with the way it came out.

Coming up soon is the Witchy Stitchy Blog Hop October 7th-11th hosted by Carol at Just Let Me Quilt.

Also, coming up is the Stitch It and Gift It Blog Hop November 11th-15 hosted by Carla at Creatin in the Sticks.

I guess I had better try to get SOMETHING done today.  So far I have gone grocery shopping, and gotten a pedicure and manicure which DH kindly treated me to.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
