2018 Finish-A-Long, Another Goal Finished

I got another one of my goals finished for this 4th Quarter of the Finish-A-Long.  I stated this quarter's goals here.  My third goal was to make some clothes for granddaughter Klara's BD which is on Monday.  So I figured I had better set aside quilting for a couple of days, and get busy.

I'm giving Klara this doll for her BD.  She has I don't know how many of these Baby Alive dolls.  I made some clothes for some the others,   What I am doing is deconstructing some of Klara's outgrown leggings and tees and making the clothes.   There are plenty of free patterns for 18 inch dolls, but not many for this size.  Most people want to charge $4 to $5 for patterns for doll clothes.  A lot of postings on Pinterest say they are free, but they link to people charging for the patterns. I finally broke down and bought a couple.  I wasted a whole day on research.  I think I am going to get her an 18 inch doll for Christmas and make it easy on myself.  I did make one pair of leggings by myself.  It was making the T-shirt I wanted some guidance with. I got a dress pattern too, but didn't make that this time.

This one was from some of Klara's old leggings.  There is also a T-shirt underneath, and a hood on the jacket. The leggings I figured out myself.  The free pattern for the jacket said it was for this doll but she has a big head and it doesn't really fit.

These were also from another pair of Klara's favorite leggings.  They had mermaids on them.

This was actually from some fabric leftover from something I made for granddaughter
#1 about 15 years ago. It was a silky pink with stars on it, and a fleece type fabric underneath.  I think I made Kyleigh some nightwear.  I probably have a yard and a half left.  I might make Klara's dolls some blankets and use it up.  Can't really see it, but I had some pink cotton knit that was also intended for Kyleigh, but I never did anything with it.  Might make Klara a dress.

I will probably make some more clothes for these dolls for Christmas. I have been thinking about a way to make a dress out of one of Klara's cotton knit dresses.,

I'm really anxious to get back to my One Monthly Goal, to get the Great Pumpkin Quilt to flimsy stage.  I just need to assemble it.

I'll be linking this up the first of January with Marci Girl Designs, one of the co-hosts of 2018 Finish-A-Long.

Now to clean up the mess I made assembling 3 doll outfits.

FALL INTO A QAL FLIMSY FINISHED, 2018 FINISH-ALONG GOAL FINISHED

Yesterday, I was able to put together my Fall Into A QAL blocks.  I designed the center section myself.   I am quite happy how it came out.   The blocks were designed by a group of designers, Partners in Design and every 2 weeks we received a new block.  I love all of them, and appreciate the effort the partners put into making these.    I will be linking this up with Vanda @Quilting with Vanda.

Getting this quilt to a flimsy stage was also one of my goals for this quarter in the 2018 Finish-A-Long, and I will be linking this up in January at the end of the quarter.

Fall Into a QAL, 2018 Finish-A-Long

Block 12, the last block of the Fall Into a QAL came out this week, designed by Vanda Chittenden @Quilting with Vanda,  It is the cutest little owl.  Thanks so much Vanda for your design.  This is my little owl:

I am now in the process of setting my Fall Into a QAL blocks.  I am linking this up with Quilting with Vanda.

Also this week I finished item #2 on my 2018 Finish-A-Long list, to get my Crow's Foot Quilt, designed by Cheri Payne, to flimsy stage.

I plan to probably hand-quilt this the first the year.  I have too many Christmas items I want to finish first.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

2018 Finish-A-Long, Quarter 4 Goals

The following are my goals for the 4th Quarter of the Finish-A-Long:

1).   Angel Quilt by Cheri Payne.  Finish for my daughter for Christmas.  I have everything cut out, have pieced the blocks and need to applique the angels on, put it together, and quilt.

What I have done

What finished quilt will look like.

2.  Finish Crow Quilt into flimsy.  It is pretty much done now  I have some berries and my initials to applique on.   I'll try to get a better picture outside when I have finished,

3.  Doll clothes for Klara's new baby for her birthday October 29th.   Didn't finish this one last time, but will do this in the next week.  I have some of Klara's old clothes I am going to cut up and make baby clothes with.

4.  Redwork Nursery Rhyme blocks.  I am going to embroider at least 3 more of these blocks for my SIL, who will be putting them together for her first grandbaby.  She is an elementary school teacher and doesn't have much free time right now to do this.  This was a BOM I had, and had done 9 out of 20 blocks, and asked her if she wanted it.  She was excited about it and I told her I would finish the embroidery.  I thought I only had a couple of blocks left, but at the time I had 11 left to do.  I am down to 6 now.  I plan to get at least 3 done this time.

I'll be working on the Man Who Had Naught, Old King Cole, and Pussy in the Well.

5.  Redwork Table Runner for my daughter Katie.  I have the redwork prepped already, just need to complete it for Christmas/  Really bad picture but hard to take a good picture of the design that is traced on the fabric.

 6.  Finish Great Pumpkin Quilt to flimsy stage.    I have prepped the last 4 blocks, they are ready for machine applique.  Then I just have the top border to do.

7.  Assemble Christmas Panels for Christmas.   I bought these two on clearance from Hobby Lobby probably 9 years ago.  I planned to make them for my daughters, I thought the grandkids would enjoy them.  I plan to put them together this year.

8.  Do 2 more sections of Sweet Land of Liberty.  This is what I have done so far.

9.  Put my redwork ornaments together for Christmas.  I made 3 sets of these about 10 years ago, gave my daughters theirs, but mine never got put together.  I keep coming across them in my pile of finish-ups.  I want to hang them on the tree this year!

10.  Get my Fall Into A QAL quilt blocks put together into a flimsy before November 13th.   There is one last block coming next week.  These are my blocks so far.

I think this should keep me out of trouble the next 3 months.  Thanks for stopping by!

STILL ON A ROLL

This week I was able to finish another item on my Quarter 3 of the Finish-A-Long.   My original list was here.  Item 3 was to hand-applique 2 of the Flourishes blocks, by Piece of Cake Designs.  This was an old BOM I had done 6 blocks I think and then put the project aside.  The owner of the quilt shop that used to be in my town knew I liked to applique, and told me she would give me the materials to make a shop quilt and to make mine.  I made the shop quilt, and only got so far with mine.  So I am trying to get mine at long last.

I achieved my goal this quarter and finished 2 of these blocks.

Several days ago, I was thinking about starting another pumpkin quilt, and had to stop myself, I am working on an old BOM, The Great Pumpkin Quilt by Briar Rose, so I prepped and machine appliqued 2 more blocks.

Then I prepped 2 more, I hope to be able to sew down in the next few days.

I talked about my squirrel problem last time here, getting side-tracked with another project.  I continued working on  my blocks and the base is done, waiting to hand-applique the crows, and flags and beehive on.  This is a Cheri Saffiote quilt called Crow's Feet in a Book called Wednesday's Best.

Right now I am working on my house on Sweet Land of Liberty.  I am working on this with Susan and Edi.

Well guess I'd better get back to the sewing room!
