One Monthly Goal-April

I need to report in for One Monthly Goal before I forget to do it.   I love this monthly motivation by Patty @ Elm Street Quilts.

My One Monthly Goal, which I stated here for April was to make my Frolic Mystery Quilt by Bonnie Hunter into a flimsy.   The beginning of April I had most of the components made, I just needed to assemble it.    This was where I started.

I was able to finish it up.  Didn't have anyone to hold it up for me, as I we are still isolating from our children and grandchildren.

So happy it is done!  I might eventually add on another border or two, still thinking about that.  This was as far as the mystery went.  I wanted to make it a little larger I think.  A former coworker is getting married in September I think and it would make a nice wedding present.

One Monthly Goal-April

I'ts time to link up goals for One Monthly Goal for April at Elm Street Quilts.    I really appreciate this monthly motivation and can't think Patty enough for continuing to do this.

My One Monthly Goal for April is to finish my Frolic Mystery from Bonnie Hunter's Mystery from last year.  It is now available as a digital pattern.  I want to get this into at least a flimsy.

I have almost all my components made.  I still need to make the 4 corners and sashings and I can start putting it together.

I'll be linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal.

What I've Been Up To

Well as of this morning, we have heat again.  We are thinking we may have to replace our heat pump, but are due to have a second opinion tomorrow.  We will see.  We have had 8 service calls since September of 2018, paying $1050 in service calls.  The heat pump is almost 10 years old.  But anyway we have heat, I can stitch in the kitchen this afternoon.

I will be working on my Frolic Mystery by Bonnie Hunter.   I have to make some more connecting pieces.  I need to make 3 more of these pieces, 4 corners and 64 sashing pieces and I can start assembling it the top.

While I waited for my heater to be fixed, and it was too cold to sew in the unheated portion of the house, I was able to hand-sew.

I did this month's Cassandra's Circle block, the free BOM by Barbara Brackman on Civil War Quilts.
I was able to applique this one night.  I plan to use mostly blues in this one.

I did last week's block in Pieces from the Past sew along by Melva Loves Scraps.  This will eventually be grandson Jaeger's graduation quilt in 2021.  I paper pieced this, and I liked it so much, I was almost talking myself into starting a new project, with just these blocks.

At one point, I discovered I had sewn a piece on the wrong way!

Then yesterday I traced out this freebie design by Bird Brain Designs,  If you go  there on the front page is access to the freebie design.  I stitched this out in one evening.  My husband wanted to stay up and watch the Voice, so I had plenty of time!

I loved this from the first time I saw it, and my fingers were itching to do some redwork, even though I have a crack in my pointer finger from washing my hands so much!

Guess I'd better get to work- stay safe everyone, and thanks for stopping by!

Frolic Mystery, Parts 6, 7, 8

grab button for Quiltville's Quips & Snips

The first thing I wanted to do this week was to finish clues 6 and 7 before 8 came out yesterday.  This is Bonnie Hunter's latest mystery quilt.  You can find the details here on her website, and the pattern is still free until February 1st.

Clues 6 and 7 were no problem, and I had gotten them done by Thursday evening.

Then on to clue 8.  I had no problem with making the units, but we combined 2 sets of clues, sewed them, and then clipped them back together.  I must have been in a brain fog last night, I was trying to clip them back to their units, and I seemed to have a problem finding the right ones.  I tried again this morning and got them all clipped together.

All ready for the next clue.

Also yesterday I spent the day cutting out my Winter Blues Blog Hop project, plus a baby quilt for our niece who had a baby girl yesterday.  I cut these all out with my Accuquilt cutter, and it made it a breeze!

Guess I'd better get busy sewing.

Thanks so much for stopping by

Frolic Mystery, Parts 4 and 5, Klara's Sewing DAy

I was getting ready for my company and finishing Christmas gifts last weekend to get my Part 4 of the Bonnie Hunter Frolic Mystery.  My company left on Thursday morning and I was able to finish up Part 4 before Part 5 came out on Friday!

I knew Thursday I would have my youngest grandchildren John and Klara here as school is out.  Sometime ago I found a couple of activities for Klara to do.  One of them was assembling a little mermaid that she can hook on her backpack.   She did so well, she had to line up 3 pieces of felt that had pre-drilled holes, and sew through all three layers with yarn to assemble the body and back and hair, and tail.  She listened to instructions very well, and was very careful in her work.

Too bad I cut off the top of her head in the second photo!  What a great day we had!

Frolic Mystery Quilt, Redwork OOPS

Quiltville's Quips & Snips

I'm all caught up on the Frolic Mystery Quilt by Bonnie Hunter.  You can catch the details here.  I wanted to get it done this week before I got caught up in anything else.  Luckily this week was fairly simple.

Yesterday I was trying to assemble the little Redwork I had done into this cute frame.  It has been in my Christmas things for years.  I tried to get a picture into the frame once and it was really difficult.  I loved the beaded frame.  So I took it apart.  I mounted the Redwork to some cardboard.

And I proceeded to superglue the whole thing together and clamped it good.

It was at this point, I realized that pointing part on the back, or point in the cardboard was supposed to be at the bottom, because the frame has that little part on the back that makes it stand up.  That would make my ribbon on the ornament upside down.

So I ripped it apart, am going to have to add some fabric around the edges where I cut off the bad parts, and try to assemble it again.

I was so upset yesterday afternoon when I found this out.  I decided I'd better leave it alone for awhile.

Will try again this afternoon.

Thanks for stopping by!

Frolic Mystery Quilt

grab button for Quiltville's Quips & Snips

Bonnie Hunter's new mystery quilt came out last Friday.  It is called Frolic.   If you would like to start this one, or collect the clues, you can find it here.

In finally was able to get my Clue 1 done, before the new clue comes out on Friday, tomorrow.  I really wanted to participate in this one, as this one is more geared to my colors.

I tried taking a picture of them on my kitchen table where I am working and they came out like this:  These are not a true reflection of what the colors are.  In fact, the tablecloth those are lying on is a bright blue!   I moved them to my kitchen counter, and they are closer to those colors.
