Slow Sunday Stitching

It has been a couple of weeks since I  last posted, but figured I had better check in on this last Slow Sunday Stitching of 2024.  The past week was full of family activities.  Both my grandsons were home from college.   My daughter Kristen for many years hosted French exchange students in the summer, and one of those students, Martin asked to spend Christmas this year with us.  He is a pilot, and undergoing some training in San Diego, so he flew in to spend Christmas with us.  Grandson Jaeger, and Martin spent two afternoons with me, cutting out motifs with his Cricut to make T-shirts and sweatshirts for family members.

I made my granddaughter Klara a By Annie Pattern called Fetch a Sketch.

Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of it when I finished.

I did finish Kyleigh's poncho before Christmas, but unfortunately could not get it blocked properly, so took it to a cleaner's and had them steam it out, and it came out beautifully.  I got it home and stitched it together.  I plan to give it to Kyleigh in the next couple of days.

My sister Mary also came for Christmas and stayed with daughter Kristen.  Christmas morning I went to Kristen's house in my PJs at 9 and we had croissants, and opened gifts and stockings.

All of us together, with Keaton's girlfriend Giana and my sister Mary sitting next to Jeffrey my son-in-law.

Later on that night, daughter Katie, husband John and grandson John, and Klara joined us for dinner.

My next project is to make a dog coat for Kyleigh's dog Maple.  I got this pattern, but it is not big enough for a Great Dane, but I have made adjustments and my mock-up pattern seems to fit her.

I also am crocheting  a beanie for grandson Keaton.  He will be going back to college in West Virginia in another month.

This is what I will be working on for Slow Sunday Stitching.  I will be linking up with Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching.

Thanks for stopping by!

Slow Sunday Stitching

Last week was another busy week.  Sunday I went with daughter Katie and two of her coworkers to see the movie Wicked which I enjoyed quite a bit.

I finally finished up the Christmas decorations, and got the Christmas village all lit up.

I also finished up the Christmas baking, and assembled my gift boxes and tins for my friends and family.

This week I also made some Christmas gifts.  I made some free standing lace ornaments that I thought I had taken a picture of, but they are missing.  I also made two gnomes.   I found the pattern here at Sew She Can.

I had quite the issue with computers this week.  Last week when I was trying to visit blogs for Slow Sunday Stitching, my computer locked up.  I logged on, and then the screen locked up, and I couldn't figure out how to unlock it.  My grandson Keaton came over Wednesday for dinner and was able to disable the lock screen for me.

Then Friday afternoon, after being gone all day at a mini quilt get together, I came home and my I-pad after being charged all day was at 20%.  I spent an hour up at Best Buy, and they put in a claim to Apple, filled out the paperwork, and told me to take it to UPS and they would ship it, and Apple would probably send me a new I-pad.  I pay for Apple Care every month, so it would be no cost to me.  I read every night on my I-pad 2-3 hours before going to sleep, so this was a real inconvenience trying to read on my phone.

Saturday morning I got up and headed up to UPS and told me they didn't see the paperwork to send it back, it was supposed to come in an email to UPS.  I was informed to go to a UPS hub, not a local store.

After talking to Kristen, she encouraged me to go to the Apple store and I made an appointment.  The young man that took care of me, rebooted my I-pad and all of a sudden it is charging again.  He told me if it happened again, and rebooting didn't take care of it, Apple would replace it.  So I am a happy camper.  I use my I-pad all the time.

My brother Bill who does beautiful woodworking, sent my Christmas package this week.  I held out 2 days before I opened them up, 2 cute gnomes, a wood tree, and driftwood piece no doubt made by my sister-in-law Char.

What I am continuing to work on for Slow Sunday Stitching is Kyleigh's poncho.  I have 9 more inches to go and I will be done.  I will be linking up with Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching.

Slow Sunday Stitching

It has been a busy couple of weeks.  The week before Thanksgiving, daughter Kristen and SIL Jeff went to Irvine to see grandson Keaton and his water polo team from West Virginia in semi-finals which they happened to win.  I took care of their 5 dogs while they were gone.  Keaton was home for two days, then went back to West Virginia the day before Thanksgiving for more practice, as the finals were scheduled in Stanford 2 weeks later, which was this past Friday.  They were up against UCLA, which they lost, so it didn't go any further. Keaton is now home for 2 months.  #15 is my grandson Keaton.  They had a professional photographer that stated on Instagram that it was a pleasure to  to photograph some new teams this year

This was our Thanksgiving dinner, minus Keaton.

My stepdaughter Dawn was able to join us from Southern California.  We generally go across the street to the park and get pictures for the Christmas cards.  My three daughters.

Our whole group that included SIL Jeffrey's parents.  Daughter Katie's kids, Klara and John had been sick all week and did not attend.  Also in the picture was John, Katie's husband who apparently was taking the picture.

This past week I have been putting up Christmas decorations.  I am almost done.  One more thing to do, and I will be finished.

This week I have also started on my Christmas cookies that I make trays and tins for every year.

For Slow Sunday Stitching this week, I will be working on granddaughter Kyleigh's poncho .  I have 15 more inches to go.  I will be linking up  Kathy 's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching.

Virtual Cookie Exchange, My Day

Today is my day for the Virtual Cookie Exchange starts today, hosted by the amazing Carol @Just Let Me Quilt.    This is one of my favorite hops, and bittersweet to know that this is the last one.  I appreciate all Carol, Joan, and Carla have done over the years to create these wonderful hops.

Challenge:  You don't have to bake anything for this, but if you have a favorite recipe or tradition, that's what we'd love to see.  Share a Christmas project with mean ole' Mr. Grinch or a past or present quilt you have made.

I have been busy this week decorating, not quite done, but almost.  I got my Christmas quilts hung.

For the virtual cookie exchange this time, I made Cranberry Pistachio Shortbread.  The recipe can be found here.

I don't know what happened to mine, they don't look like the picture, there's are flat and mine are round balls, but they taste yummy.

Be sure and find out what the other bloggers below have made.  The lineup is below.
