Dust Off a Quilt Book Blog Hop, My Day

The Dust off a Quilt Book Blog Hop starts today, hosted by the lovely Bea @Beaquilter.
The schedule is below.  Many thanks to Bea for running this hop again, I always enjoy it.

For my project, I looked through my quilt books.  I was also looking at patterns in mind to have a dual purpose, for our Red and White Quilt Show in May.  I took one of my primitive Red Wagon books Fall Into Winter.

The quilt I decided to make was called Vic's Red Thistle.  I knew I didn't have time to hand applique all four blocks before this blog hop/or the quilt show, so I made one block.  I decided to put on Bonnie Hunter's braided border the instructions for which are in her her free patterns site.

I wasn't able to quilt it due to guild activities, but this is the top.

Be sure and visit the other bloggers and see what they have come up with.

Slow Sunday Stitching

It was another busy week.  I got back from camp last Sunday, put away my things and was tired.  Monday I cut out the remaining pieces (I think) for my Storm at Sea Blocks for my bed quilt.

Wednesday was workday at my house and Wednesday evening my friend June and I got together and had a nice happy hour dinner at a local restaurant.  Then we went out to a college nearby and attended a Women's History Symposium.  It was very interesting and a nice night out.

Thursday I had a 7 a.m. dental hygiene appointment and from 9-2 p.m attended a Pedal to the Metal event by quilters from my guild and others to make quilt tops for a comfort quilt group several of our members are involved in.  They make quilts, pillow cases, dog beds and many things and donate them to local groups and hospitals in need.  We sewed 10 strips together.  Then others ironed and cut them into 5 inch strips.

This was the first top I made.

What I will be working on for Slow Sunday Stitching is putting the circles on the cross members of my redwork quilt and sew buttons on.  I also need to put a hanging sleeve on this one.

I will be linking up with Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching.

Thanks for stopping by!
