It has been another couple of busy weeks. The last Wednesday in October was our 5th Wednesday at our guild. We have a sewing day. People can quilt small quilts we have prepared, or work on quilt tops, make pillowcases. We work for about 4 hours and have a potluck lunch. I worked on this flannel panel. It was shown at our guild meeting this past Wednesday.
I recently finished these placemats for my grandson and his girlfriend for Christmas. They live in Albuquerque. I used the Accuquilt cactus die.
On November 8th, I went went with daughter Kristen and her Sutter Hospital team for the Light the Night Walk for Blood Cancer. It was a fun walk.
I have been working on Christmas presents recently, and I had purchased 2 panels to participate in Angela Walters Season's Greetings Quilt Along. I was going to give them to both my daughters, but then Angela pointed out you could cut the panels up and make table runners and placemats.
So I cut them up so I have 2 table runners for my daughters and 8 placemats for granddaughter Kyleigh. I still have a lot of quilting to do. I am working on my domestic machine for these.
November 16th would have been my 50th anniversary. I told my family I didn't want to spend the evening alone. So granddaughter Kyleigh made tacos, and I made Mexican rice, and Katie and SIL John brought refried beans and a delicious dessert, Buttermilk cake with buttermilk icing.
My guild friend Ann and I have challenged each other. She has a longarm she hadn't really used, and I have a Handiquilter Moxie which I do really nice meandering on, but basically nothing else. I challenged her to work on her machine, and she challenged me to do other stitches on the Moxie.
This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another. If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.

What an eventful time you have had. I am glad family could gather with you. The DWR will be wonderful when done. And who doesn't love more storage options! Love the cabinet.
ReplyDeleteYour flannel panel is lovely! I so love snow people! The quilting on the placemats truly highlights those lovely cacti! You have been on my mind these last few weeks. How fun to have a "challenge friend"! Your laundry room makeover is inspiring me to do something with mine!
ReplyDeleteYou've had a busy month, Karrin! It's always great to catch up with you. I love that flannel snowman panel you finished up! Everyone is going to love those placemats, too. The new cabinet in the laundry room looks great - I bet it gave the room a completely different look. Glad you had some family time on your 50th anniversary day - your family always sounds just awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice way to mark a special day. Gail at the cozy quilter
ReplyDeleteThat flannel panel is beautiful, Karrin. I like the challenge you and your friend have made to each other to do more with your quilting machines! I’m so glad you had family with you on your 50th anniversary, and what a wonderful meal you all put together. Enjoy this time working on Christmas gifts!
ReplyDeleteThese anniversaries are bitter sweet, arent they, remembering all those happy years with our husbands, and so sad that they are no longer with us. I feel your pain, and I'm sending cyber hugs across the ocean from New Zealand.
