Welcome to the second day, and my day of the Salt and Sea Blog Hop! When Carol @Just Let Me Quilt first suggested this hop, I knew I had to join in. The beach and ocean are my special place, I dream of visiting them again. Many thanks to Carol for once again coming up with a wonderful hop. The full list of participants is below, be sure and visit and see what everyone has come up with!
I had a brilliant plan to begin with that didn't come to fruition yet. I had planned to make a collage mermaid, something I have never done before, but unfortunately I just received my materials last week. I had a graphic artist, the husband of my hearing aid technician, draw me a beautiful mermaid some years ago, and I plan to make a collage of it, this is not something you attempt a week before the hop. So on to Plan B.
I used some of my Christmas money to purchase some new dies for my Accuquilt cutter, and had not had a chance to use yet. I had gotten a tumbler die, and I also purchased some nautical dies. I used some of my 30's fabrics that have little children on the seashore, and also used some of my nautical fabric.
I put nautical borders on. On the bottom it says "Ahoy, my friend, come sail with me.. Let's Make believe we're at sea"
This is the whole top. I haven't had a chance to quilt it yet. This top will end up being one of my contributions to the Hands 2 Help Comfort Quilt Challenge 2021 organized by Sarah @Confessions of a Fabric Addict.
My daughter came over on when I was working on this top and told me my granddaughter would love one like this for her baby doll Beatrice. I had some leftover tumblers cut out, so I will sew Beatrice a quilt for Easter!
Be sure and visit the others participating in this hop, and thanks again Carol for another wonderful hop!
