This past week was a bonus week for me, there was no 5th Wednesday workday, so my week was mine to do as I wished. I am not sure I used my time wisely, as I spent 2 days just reading.
I tried to get my knitting machine to work, which I haven't used in at least 25 years. I watched You Tube videos, read the manuals and tried multiple times to cast on. What I ended up doing was breaking some wheels on the carriage. They were rubber and apparently brittle. I ordered some more, but they are coming from Japan, the only place I could find the part.
I decided to sell both my machines, I am just not interested enough to figure out how to use them anymore. I am more into quilting, stitching and my garden. When I get the parts I will put them up for sale. I have a lot of attachments for both machines, and I have seen them for sale on eBay and other places.
This week has been a lot cooler weather and I have had a chance to work on my new garden. I planted most of my naked lady bulbs, moved some things from pots including succulents, a peony and some lambs ears I had dug up from the prior garden.
The next project I plan to tackle is this for my granddaughter Klara for Christmas. She likes to sketch and is actually a very good artist. I have the all of the materials except for some clear vinyl.
Klara turned 11 this week. We plan to have a family lunch on Sunday to celebrate.

Because I had hopes of getting my knitting machine working, I hadn't worked on my hand knitting of granddaughter Kyleigh's poncho. I had about 8 inches done. When I picked it up again last night, I discovered a dropped stitch about 4 inches back, so I ripped back and started again.

ReplyDeleteLove the Sketch bag you are planning to make, and the finished Floral supply case turned out lovely. Oh those darn dropped stitches is the reason I gave up mostly on knitting.
ReplyDeleteYou can never go wrong spending a day reading! I love the looks of your Flora Supply Case - way to go on the zipper. Even after making a ton of zippered pouches, I still struggle with them. Klara's art case looks like a great project - I bet she will love it!

ReplyDeleteGood on you taking part in the Breast Cancer walk, BC has touch so any of us. I had a knitting machine many years ago, and got to the stage that it felt like work, not relaxing like hand knitting, so sold it very cheaply to get rid of it. Hope your one sells easily.
