The Dust off a Quilt Book Blog Hop is today, hosted by the amazing Bea @Beaquilter. I look forward to this hop every year as I have a lot of quilt books saved as I have something I want to make in them.
When Bea gave me a choice of days for this blog hop, I chose March 7th. This would have been my mother's 92nd birthday. I was the first of four children, and my mother was 18 when she had me. My mother loved roosters and chickens and I inherited a lot of her chicken and rooster porcelains and pictures.
So in honor of my mother's birthday today I decided to make something with a rooster in it. It came from this booklet, that didn't even have a published date in it.
My mother would have loved this guy. He brightens up my living room. My mother passed away in 1997 at the age of 65. I have to say that after she passed away I found myself purchasing a lot of chicken and rooster fabric! But the background for this pillow I found at Hobby Lobby and I couldn't seem to leave the store without it.
Visit the other quilters and see what quilt book they have dusted off. Thanks again Bea for the invitation to participate in one of my favorite hops!
The Dust off a Quilt Book Blog Hop is happening March 7, 2024, hosted by the amazing Bea @Beaquilter. I look forward to this hop every year as I have a lot of quilt books saved as I have something I want to make in them.
This is the schedule of bloggers participating:
Welcome to the last day of the Dust Off a Quilt Book Blog Hop, and my day. I am so thankful that Bea @Beaquilter contacted me and invited me to this blog hop again. Somehow I missed it last year and was very sorry.
I dusted off my quilt books. I didn't go through all of them, but this is the oldest book I found, published in 1985.
I like to coordinate my blog hop projects frequently with a gift for someone. My granddaughter Kyleigh's boyfriend Drew graduated from nursing school in December and I promised him a quilt as a graduation gift. Drew chose the color, and I know he likes moose. Drew's birthday is coming up later this month, so it will be a combination graduation/BD gift. This is a picture of Drew and granddaughter Kyleigh.
The book I used was Another Nice Mix by Gerry Kimmel. This is one of my primitive books which I love. I started quilting in around 1994. This book came out in 1995. The quilt I made is called Mary Jane's Star. I have made this quilt several times.
Then I used this other book for the moose applique. I also used used my Accuquilt moose and bear dies.
I thought I had gotten a moose panel, but I am not sure if it is a moose or elk. Drew will probably let me know.
Thanks again Bea for the chance to participate in one of my favorite blog hops.
