What I Have Been Up To

Well I ended up taking my laptop into the computer guy, and apparently it is toast.  Fixable, but not worth it.  He said the cheapest thing to do would find my exact same machine on eBay and he could move the hard drive onto it.  So I have the new free  Bernina program on my PC, which works with Windows 10, the problem is moving a design from my computer to my embroidery unit.  It says my Bernina is connected, but then it gives me an error message saying "failed to establish a connection to the embroidery system".   I guess I will call Bernina after Thanksgiving and see if they can help me. I even changed cords to see if that was the problem.  All in all I messed with this too much this week.

I am working slowly but steadily on hand-quilting the Angel quilt, which I made here my One Monthly Goal for November.  Since this is a primitive quilt, I am using a big stitch, and stitching around the blocks, around the angels, and stitching stars in the backgrounds and a heart on the angels.  I should have this finished easily by the end of the month I think.

The other thing I have been working on is my other daughter's Christmas table runner.  Because I had most of the components of this leftover from the one I made here for the Christmas in July Blog Hop put on by Sarah @Confessions of a Fabric Addict, it the main part was getting the redwork done.  I have it all set up now to quilt in the next couple of days.

I'm beginning to come to the conclusion I have a big scrap problem.  I have this big bag, one of those plastic zip-up bags that a comforter comes in filled with scraps.

I also have this other one filled with children's type fabrics and a bunch of fabric left over from grandson Keaton's Star Wars quilt.,

I have been using Bonnie Hunter's Scrap User's System, and every couple of weeks I cut a bunch of fabric into strips, squares and blocks.  I have spent the past 5 days off and on cutting fabric up.  That first picture was taken after I was done for this round.

This was what I accomplished this time.

In going through those scrap bags, I found a bunch of bonus triangles, which I have been using as leader-enders, and got these all trimmed up today too.

I have to get this house cleaned up for Thanksgiving so I am putting my scraps away again.

I've also come to the conclusion I have a UFO problem also.  I found this in the closet from a class I took in Sisters, Oregon a number of years ago.  I have 5 blocks finished, some parts of blocks, and pieces cut out.  The quilt is apparently called Tumbling Stars.  I'm trying not to let this get me side-tracked.  Maybe I should put it back in the closet!

I'm going to link up with Confessions of a Fabric Addict for Can I Get a Whoop Whoop.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Some problems are universal. I'm happy to find someone else with scraps organized just like mine- I'm talking about those in the comforter bag. Have just started slicing the present projects leftovers into usable bits, but that bag is still looking at me. And the UFOs... I have been picking away at them all year, and still have more. The good news is that many were done, I'm sneaking in a new project under the guise of Christmas present, and your runner is sweet.

  2. HOw many strands did you use for your embroidery? I want to do an embroidery quilt mixed with piecing and want my blocks to pop like yours does.
