Hand Quilt Along, Slow Sunday Stitching

This was another busy week, topped off with a trip on Friday to Half Moon Bay for my SIL Jeff's BD.

Jeff decided he wanted to spend his birthday in Half Moon Bay at Dunes Beach with his family.  We also had Jaeger's girlfriend Cali and Drew, Kyleigh's boyfriend with us.  We loaded up in a large vehicle and made our 2-1/2 hour trip to the beach.  When we went to pay our entry fee at the state park, the attendant stated she had seen a whale off the coast earlier in the morning.

So we kept our eyes looking for the whale.  There was one, maybe two whales that traveled up and down the coast where we were all day long.  It was truly magnificent.  I love whales, and whale watching.  He entertained us all day long.

I was able to finally catch an image of him when he breached one time.

We spent a lovely day at the beach.  It was on the cooler side in the 60's, but it didn't seem to bother the kids even to go in the water.

Keaton was the bravest one, getting completely wet.

There were also quite a few seals playing in the surf.  Jaeger spent quite a while playing with a seal.  It would sort of body surf in on the waves to a certain point, and kept playing with Jaeger.

Drew and Kyleigh were doing some acrobatic maneuvers.

After a full day of fun we had a wonderful dinner at Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, and then made our way home.

I haven't done much handwork the past three weeks.  I did take my stitching for the road trip, but didn't do anything, and then left it in the car when they dropped me off.  What I will be working on for Slow Sunday Stitching will be my Gathered Blessings by Kathy Schmitz.

This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.

I was able to get to a tiny bit of yard work this week.  I found my Dahlia blooming.

I also have Amaranth plants growing out of the brick pathway again.

I also got another visit from the baby turkeys.   I am letting my grass die, as I am going to do a more drought conscious landscape out front.   They were heading over into my neighbor's driveway before they headed back to the park across the street.

I also was able to get some more Storm at Sea Blocks done this week, only 4 more I think to go before I can start attaching them to my brother's lighthouse quilt.

To those in the U.S, Happy Fourth of July.  I plan to spend the evening with part of my family.  Daughter Katie and John-John and Klara are visiting their other grandmother in Arizona.

I will be linking up with Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching.    Check out what others are working over there too!

Thanks for stopping by!

  11. You have such a wonderful family! Beautiful pictures. We have been in a drought for years now. This one is the worst. So happy that we did the zero scapping. Love the turkeys. I like Kathy’s projects also. Have a great week! Keep cool! The High and Heat is back again this week - no rain. Temps in SA will be up to 104 and that means that ours will go up to at least 114. Hugs
