It has been another busy week for me. I neglected to mention last week, amidst my rotary cutting incident, but I have had a bad tooth on my right side for which I have been chewing on the left side of my mouth for 9 months or so. That week the whole side of my mouth was sore, the tooth and sores in my mouth I think from eating too much spicy food.
I have not had dental insurance since I retired. Several months ago Kaiser sent me a card and said I was entitled to dental insurance. So I scheduled an appointment with a different dental group, as the dental group I have been with for 40 years didn't accept this type of dental insurance. So they brought me in for an evaluation and I have 2 cracked teeth and require 2 crowns. The insurance doesn't cover this procedure, it will come out of my pocket. So I scheduled one tooth the first part of August. Meanwhile I signed up for a better plan which will pay 50% of a crown after a year. So I am going to see if this first one will take care of the worst of my pain, and see if I can wait for the second one.
This week was also guild meeting which is a nice get together. Friday I got together with my friend Jandra and gave her the Boho Bag I made for her. I will be sharing pictures of this on Monday, on my UFO Blog Hop day.
This week was also our Begonia meeting, and I brought back several new plants. I have been thinking about getting a new plant stand for the kitchen window. I purchased this one at Amazon. Of course I have to put it all together, so that is what I am doing Saturday night.
In assembling this plant stand, I am having a musical evening. The first show I saw was on Paramont Plus. It was called The Day The Music Died, the story of Don McClean's American Pie. It was really good. The second show I am watching is on Tubi called 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So far they have had U2, Simon and Garfunkle, Bruce Springstein, Bonnie Rait, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Little Richard, Stevie Wonder, BB King, James Taylor, Sting, and Mick Jagger. I am in musical heaven! Music has always been a big part of my life.
This week I have also been trying to get my yard in order. Next week will be the first time the guild's community service work day will be at my house. I went out to trim some lavender up today. It was a huge plant, and as I started trimming, I realized that there was a lot of dead part inside, I mean a lot of dead So I trimmed it way back to bare bones and will see if it comes back. I filled up 2 trash cans! I'm not sure there is much alive in there. Our drought hasn't helped. I have more work to do out front, but need my cans emptied first.
Several of the projects I have been working on this week I finished for the UFO Blog Hop, so I will share on Monday.
This week for Slow Sunday Stitching I will also be working on my sunflower quilt.
I'll be linking up with Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching. Head on over and check out what everyone has been up to.
Thanks for stopping by!
Argh....dentists....both the pain in the mouth and the hip pocket! I hope it is all sorted and your teeth can be as good as new again, Karrin. The cut to your finger sounds nasty. Hoping it is healing with each new day. The plant shelves look fabulous. I am that gal who can never seem to put a flat pack together quickly. As for your Sunflower quilt; enjoy your Sunday stitching it. It is lovely.ReplyDelete
I have always had dental insurance I consider it a must have I am glad I can afford dental care - I think they charge too much and of course even with insurance you have to pay a bit.ReplyDelete
Oh, sorry about your teeth problems. Not fun! I can't wait to see the boho bag!ReplyDelete

Tooth pain is the worst. I hope the new crown helps.icant wait to see tomorrow's post! Have a great Sunday.ReplyDelete
It's no fun to be having dental issues - hope they get resolved without too much more pain and money. Your plant stand looks really neat! It will be pretty in the window. That documentary sounds fascinating. We love that song, too, and have Paramount +, so watched the trailer. I think we'll be watching the show! Happy stitching today, Karrin!ReplyDelete
Your music, what I call real people singing real words!! love every one in your list, the good old days when you could sing along. We have had so much rain here, and it looks like some will fall every day at some stage for another week. I am so fortunate to have my clothes line under a huge verandah roof.Hope your wilted plants survive inside.ReplyDelete
I know about dental costs...just had a molar pulled. Your plant stand came out perfectly and is Beautiful!ReplyDelete
Come see our new Kitty!
oh no... tooth pain is awful... I'm so sorry you're going through that.ReplyDelete
I love listening to music when I craft, drive or really any time. I tend to 70s/80s rock and Country music. I am so sorry about your teeth problems. One of my concerns with retiring was the loss of dental insurance. We are not sure what we will be doing for that either. I have a great dental group that offers payment plans so I am not too worried. Enjoy stitching your sunflower quilt.ReplyDelete
Tooth pain is the worst! And treatment is do expensive, but necessary to keep us healthy. Hope you get your tooth problems dealt with soon. Your sunflower quilt looks great, seems a lot of work went into making that.ReplyDelete
Ouch ,tooth ache no fun there! Love your plant stand!ReplyDelete
I hope most the pain is resolved by getting the one tooth fixed. Pretty stitching!ReplyDelete
