Hand Quilt Along, (HQAL), Slow Sunday Stitching

This was a relatively busy week, with Community Service Workday at my house on Wednesday.  I also took my friend Jandra out to lunch for her birthday Thursday.  I made her a gift which I will reveal during the next Sew It-Show It Challenge.

I have been working on my next project which is a challenge for my quilt guild.  We are supposed to make something that makes your heart sing.  I love the ocean, mermaids, anything to do with the sea.  So I am making a mermaid collage quilt and have been busy cutting out different collage pieces for my mermaid.

This week I received a text message from ReCreate,  craft thrift store in my area.  They had an over-abundance of fabric and were offering fabric $7.99 or $25 a bag.  So I grabbed a bad and filled it up.  The bag weighed 10.6 pounds so I feel I got my money's worth.

Granddaughter Kyleigh took the quilt that I quilted for her college roommate back to Boston last week, and Mallytza was thrilled.  Thanks to the new light brother Bill installed in my quilting room, I can actually see what I am doing now.  Before lighting was from an overhead fan light.

My amaryllis this week has 4 blooms now.

As for hand work, I am still slowly working on this sunflower quilt.

This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.

I will also be linking up at Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching,   Head on over and check out what others are working on.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. You have so many pretty fabrics in your mermaid collage quilt, Karrin. A bag of fabrics for $25 is excellent value. I am certain you will find good use for these. Those amaryllis flowers are a gorgeous colour. Enjoy quilting your sunflower quilt.

  10. Finally catching up on blogs! DH has been sick and then I got it too, so it has been a rough 10 days here. We are are both on the mend now, and I’m hoping he finally sleeps tonight. Your projects are looking amazing. The mermaid quilt took my breath away, and the progress on your sunflower quilt is wonderful. That must have been an adventure driving to a Tahoe to get Keaton. Well done you!
