Shades of Blue Sew It-Show-It Challenge, Day 2, My Day

Welcome to Day 2 of The Shades of Blue Sew It, Show It Challenge starts hosted by the amazing Carla @Creatin In the Sticks.    Thanks so much to Carla for letting me join in this fun challenge.  Blue happens to be one of my favorite colors, and I knew I had to join.  When the subject of this challenge first came up, I already had a project in mind.  I had planned to make the daughter of a friend of our family a wedding quilt, and I had chosen Bonnie Hunter's digital pattern called Winter Blues.  While I knew I wouldn't get the whole quilt top made, I thought I could get a great portion of it done.  This quilt measures 81 x 95 inches.

I am making this entirely out of scraps I had in my cut-up strip containers, and scraps I had not yet cut up.

As of Saturday night  I had the 120-16 patches, measuring 4.5 inches made, the 99 9-patches, I had the setting triangles and corners made, along with the sashings and cornerstones cut out. My kitchen counter looked like this:

I worked on assembling it 2 full days.  One half is done, and I started working on the second half.  There is also a braided border out of blues.

So that is my Shades if Blue Challenge.  The digital pattern can be found here at Quiltville.  It is 25% off until 1/31/23.

The entire schedule is listed below, check out what everyone else has made.

  4. That is gorgeous! I had to laugh when I read your post. I spent last week cutting up scraps for a Bonnie Hunter quilt here. But I must say your counter top looks 100 times better than mine did! LOL!! I love sewing up Bonnie's patterns. It brings great joy to my heart to make something out of scraps.
