Slow Sunday Stitching

It's been a couple of weeks since I posted.  Last week was my birthday and granddaughter Kyleigh asked what I wanted to do for my birthday.  I told her I wanted to go to the beach.  So my daughters and son-in-law Jeff took off work, and grandson Jaeger came home from Albuquerque for the weekend for my birthday.

We had lunch in Monterrey, and spent the day on the beach in Asilomar, right down the road.  Asilomar is one of my favorite places, and favorite beaches.  I attended some Empty Spools quilting retreats in Asilomar many years ago and I fell in love with it then.  We had a lovely brunch at Wave Street Cafe in Monterrey.

This is what my 73 looks like.

The afternoon was spent at the beach.  Kyleigh had planned everything beautifully.  She had cake, and mimosas.

Kyleigh asked what my favorite cake was and I told her it was a fruit tart.  She wasn't able to get a large one, so got me one, and then got everyone else cake.

It was a perfect day, the weather was perfect.  I kept looking for shells, and really wanted to find some sea glass but didn't have any luck.  Then daughter Katie, with her eagle eyes found me two small pieces of sea glass!   A perfect ending to a perfect day.

My brother Bill sent me some wooden items he had made.  These three pieces he made out of some birch logs I had sitting on my fireplace for years, for show.  I was getting rid of the fireplace tools as I never use them and offered him the logs.

This bowl was made from a log of eucalyptus.  My neighbors had a tree come down several months ago, and when the guys were cleaning up the logs and were going to cart them off, I asked if I could have a few of them.  This came from the eucalyptus.  He makes such beautiful wooden pieces, I love them all!

Last Sunday, daughter Kristen and I attended the Breast Cancer walk at Sacramento State.  We had some pictures taken with her coworkers at Sutter Imaging.

I have been quilting this week, but can't reveal what until my day on the Monster Mash Blog Hop coming up next week.

What I will be working on for Slow Sunday Stitching is my pumpkin piece.  I am almost finished.

I will be linking up with Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching.  Hop on over and check out what everyone has been up to.

Thanks for stopping by!
