HQAL, Slow Sunday Stitching

Another three weeks have passed, and time to check in again for the Hand Quilt Along.  Last time, I was just starting the embroidery from Kathy Schmitz's One Stitch at a Time Club.  I did finish that project.

I also worked on and completed two gifts for granddaughter Kyleigh's 20th BD in a couple of weeks.  She headed back to college this weekend, and I wanted to celebrate with her before she left.  She is a 3rd year nursing student, and she will be one of the groups allowed back to do their clinical.

Anyway, I made her a memory book, with family pictures and little words of wisdom, and memories.

I also made her a mini wall hanging.  She admired the one I had made.  This is my own design.

Kyleigh loved  both projects, and I received a beautiful thank you note in the mail today.  She also got her braces off before she left!

So after I finished those projects, I have been working to get caught up on the BOM's I'm working on before August blocks come out.

First was a private BOM I am participating in.  It is a Christmas theme.

Next I finished July's Ella Maria Deacon blocks.  This is offered through Sentimental Stitches.

Also this week, the QAL by the Sea quilt along started.   This is offered by Partner's in Design.   This week's block was by Pretty Piney Quilts.     I love ocean-themed anything, so I had to join this one.

What I will be doing for my Slow Sunday Stitching this week is working on this month's Kathy Schmitz's stitchery  "Be Kind".

I also need to prep last week's Pieces from the Past block from Melva Loves Scraps.  It is an English Paper Pieced project this time.

Be sure and check out the Hand Quilting Links below and get some inspiration.

Hand Quilt Along Links

This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.

I will also be linking up with Slow Sunday Stitching @ Kathy's Quilts.  Check out those links too for more inspiration.

  2. Karrin, How exciting for your granddaughter to get to finish her 3rd year of nursing and do clinicals.. right now she can see how sick those covid patients really get too.. being a retired RN now... I know her career choice is in high demand today still too... I love the wall hanging and memory book you made for her and I am glad she was taught how nice it is to receive a thank you note... not many of this generation do that anymore!!!
I love all your handiwork ... including that K embroidery you finished with those robin blue eggs! :) Kathi

With all her caring and beautiful characteristics it sounds as if she will make a wonderful nurse and make this world a better place.
