Slow Sunday Stitching

This past week was spent putting Christmas decorations up.  My grandsons helped me get them back in the attic.  I was anxious to get them put up as I wanted to refinish my laminate floors.  They were getting a little dull.  Also I got a new doormat for the front door.  I was trying to get it done in one day, the front room, entry and hallways on either side of the house.  I worked pretty much from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and I noticed I had stepped in the wet wax with my Birkenstocks and had tracks for about 4 feet.  I need to get some more of the wax removal stuff to get the footprints out.  But the rest of it looks pretty good.

My new rug fits my nautical decor

After I took my Christmas quilts down, I was looking through my quilts and came across this one.  I started quilting in 1994.  At my local quilt store, they had a Red Wagon Quilt Club.  It was in the fashion of the primitive quilt ladies, Gerry Kimmel, Jan Patek and Linda Brannock.  Each month we would get another block.  I have never even hung this one up.  A friend hand quilted it for me.

The highlight of my week was going with my family to see the new Bob Dylan movie, A Complete Unknown.  I loved it and thought it was really good.  Both my daughters, granddaughter Kyleigh, grandsons Jaeger, Keaton, and Keaton's girlfriend went.

My husband John used to play the guitar and did plan some Bob Dylan songs, especially "Don't Think Twice".

It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babeIf'n you don't know by nowAnd it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babeIt'll never do somehowWhen your rooster crows at the break of dawnLook out your window and I'll be goneYou're the reason I'm a-traveling onBut don't think twice, it's all right

And it ain't no use in turning on your light, babeThat light I never knowedAnd it ain't no use in turning on your light, babeI'm on the dark side of the roadBut I wish there was somethin' you would do or sayTo try and make me change my mind and stayBut we never did too much talking anywayBut don't think twice, it's all right
So it ain't no use in calling out my name, galLike you never done beforeAnd it ain't no use in calling out my name, galI can't hear you anymoreI'm a-thinking and a-wonderin' walking down the roadI once loved a woman, a child, I'm toldI give her my heart but she wanted my soulBut don't think twice, it's all right
So long honey, babeWhere I'm bound, I can't tellGoodbye's too good a word, babeSo I'll just say, "Fare thee well"I ain't a-saying you treated me unkindYou could've done better but I don't mindYou just kinda wasted my precious timeBut don't think twice, it's all right

When John sang this song, he would sing it so convincingly and with so much emotion, I was afraid he was ready to walk at the door.

I finally was able to give granddaughter Kyleigh her poncho.

This next week will be a busy one, I have a Begonia Board Meeting, and a Quilt guild board meeting and Friday will be mini-group quilters at my house, so I will need to get ready for that.

I was able to pick up my Bernina from the spa this week.  I am looking forward to getting started working on what got interrupted at Christmas when it went wacko.  I was doing free standing lace ornaments for Christmas and got about 1/4 way through and broke a needle and then things were not stitching out right.  I will have to wait till after mini-group though to work on that as I sew on my kitchen table.

What I will be working on for Slow Sunday Stitching will be either Keaton's beanie or this wool embroidery.

I'll be linking up with Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching.
