SAHRR-Week 2

This week's prompt for the Stay At Home Round Robin was from Kathleen @Kathlelen McMusing.  "Make a King’s Crown block/s for your first round OR make blocks that begin with your first initial or my initial K".

My first initial happens to be K also.  I decided to go to Quilter's Cache and see what other quilt blocks I could find that started with K.  I found two that suited me,  Kristen's Patchwork Square, and Katie's Choice.  I have daughters named Katie and Kristen, so I chose to make 2 of each of these blocks.

These are the Katie's Choice blocks.

These are the Kristen's Patchwork Squares.

I didn't attach these to my center piece yet.  I am going to wait and see what next week's prompt is.

The schedule of the bloggers suggesting the clues each week is below.

SAHRR '24, Center Block

Gail @Quilting Gail is hosting her Stay At Home Round Robin again this year.  This is one of my favorite yearly activities.  You start out with an orphan block, and each week one of the co-host SAHRR gives you a prompt of what the next round will be.

This was my finished quilt from 2023.  I donated it to Community Service at my guild.

This was my top from 2022.  I donated it to Hands2Help

This was from 2021, and I also donated it also to Hands2Help.

This year I was looking through my odds and ends basket and didn't see anything that caught my eye.  Then I caught sight of this baggie of blocks and flying geese I picked up from the free table at my guild.

I put together 4 of the blocks.  Don't know what this baggie of blocks and bits was supposed to be, but this is the center block I came up with.  I want to make it lap sized, and will be donated to the Community Service at my guild and I want it to end up rectangular.  It is starting out at 17.5 x 20.5.

This is the schedule for the SAHRR:

I will be linking up at Quilting Gail.

Stay at Home Round Robin 2023, (SAHRR) Center Block

Today is the start of the Stay at Home Round Robin.  Gail @Quilting Gail is again hosting the Stay at Home Round Robin.  Many thanks to Gail and all her work in the organization of this fun event.

This is the third year I have participated.  This was the quilt I made last year.

This was the year before.

This will be my center block this time.  It was an orphan block from a BOM that  Melva @Melva Loves Scraps did several years ago called Pieces of the Past.  I messed up the block as it was written, and had to make another.  This is the reject.  I forget what the block was called.

These are the co-hosts and schedule for the rounds,

I'll be linking up @Quilting Gail.

Thanks for stopping by.

Slow Sunday Stitching

I had a less activities this week, so I was able to get a little more accomplished.

First thing this week, I was able to get the guild community service quilt quilted and bound.  I am glad to have this off my plate.

I was also able to get the Shoo Fly blocks on my Stay at Home Round Robin.  This was the last round, and it now measures about 59x70.  This will be one of my quilts I am donating to Hands2Help this year, which is being run by The Academic Quilter this year.

I also pieced the components of a crazy quilt Boho Bag for my friend Jandra.  She loves Minnie Mouse and hearts and took a picture of one of her figurines with a backdrop of some heart fabric so I printed it up on some silk fabric and incorporated it into the front flap piece.

My next steps are to add the embellishments:  Lace, beads, buttons, charms and stitches.  This is what I will be working on for Slow Sunday Stitching.  I will be linking up with Slow Sunday Stitching at Kathy's Quilts.  Head on over and check out what everyone has been working on.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stay at Home Round Robin, Round 6

I am a couple of weeks behind on the 6th and last round of the Stay At Home Round Robin which was hosted by Quilting Gail.  You can read all about it here.    Each week one of the co-hosts gave us a different prompt for the border to put on your little quilt.   The sixth round was prompted by Chris @Chrisknits and it was to make Shoo Fly Blocks.

This quilt I intend to donate to Hands2Help this year, and so it measures about 59x70.  It was a windy day yesterday when I finished it.

It was a bittersweet day yesterday when I pieced this last border.  I almost used up two fabrics that I had purchased back when I first started quilting in 1994 or so.   The red was my first quilt, a red and green applique quilt, and the blue was a Brannock/Patek Moda print I have always loved.  I have enough to cut up into scraps of both of these prints now.

I'll be linking up at the final link-up, it was too late to link up at Chrisknits.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stay at Home Round Robin, Round 5

This was week 5 of the Stay at Home Round Robin.  You can read all about it here at Quilting Gail.    Each week one of the co-host bloggers gives you a different prompt for the next border round on your little quilt.  This week it was actually Quilting Gail's turn and it was applique.

I love applique, any kind, anywhere.   This was my quilt after last week's prompt, which was signature blocks,  my quilt looked like this.

I have had this baggie of fused stars and background I cut out a long, long time ago, probably around 2010 or so from another project.  I kept running into it constantly.  I didn't have enough of that background to use for my borders this time, but I had the perfect amount of stars, so I scattered them around my border.  It was meant to  be, to have the perfect amount to go all around the quilt this time.

This is my finished round.  I will be linking up at Quilting Gail.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stay At Home Round Robin, Round 4

This is the fourth week of the Stay at Home Round Robin.   You can read all about it here at Quilting Gail.   This week's prompt was by Wendy at Pieceful Thoughts of My Quilting Life, and it was to make signature blocks.  Pretty simple to make.  I did attach one of the borders going opposite to all the others.  So I took it off.  Then realized I had taken the wrong border off!  But it is straightened out now.  I was going to leave it, but my inner critic would not let me!  I found the 3.5 and 2.5 inch squares cut up in my scrap box.

I'm getting right in at the tail end of the link-up on Pieceful Thoughts of My Quilting Life.

Stay at Home Round Robin, Round 3

This is the third week of the Stay at Home Round Robin.   You can read all about it here at Quilting Gail.   This week's prompt was by Roseann & Sue @ Home Sewn by Us  and was for wonky stars.  I had wanted to elongate my block, instead of keeping it square, so I just put my wonky stars on the top and bottom.  I am planning on donating this when it is finished to the community quilt project of my quilt guild.  I am keeping it scrappy.

I'll be linking up at Home Sewn by Us.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stay at Home Round Robin, Weeks 1 and 2

Gail @Quilting Gail is hosting the SAHRR (Stay At Home Round Robin) again this year.   You can find out all about it here.    Each week one of the co-hosts gives you a border to put on your original block.  This is a list of the rounds.

Last week I was busy working on my daughter's BD presents, and didn't get around to getting my round on.   This was my original block.

The first round was suggested by Anja @Anja Quilts, curves.  This is my first round of curves.

This week's prompt was by Emily @The Darling Dogwood and was diamonds.  This is my diamond round.  I was going to do an economy square in the corners, but I miscut my brown fabric several times, and misjudged the dimensions of my cut pieces, so I had no more brown fabric left.

I will be linking up @Anja Quilts and @The Darling Dogwood.    Thanks so much ladies you are challenging me to try new things!

Stay At Home Round Robin

I was really happy to see that Gail @Quilting Gail was hosting the Stay at Home Round Robin again this year.  You can read all about it on her site above.   Each week one of the co-hosts gives us a border to put on our quilt.  This first week we were to choose our center block.

This is what I made last year, and I ended up donating it to Victoria's Quilts who donates them to terminally ill patients.

This is the orphan block I decided to use this year.  Can't wait to see what the first border is!

These are a list of the co-hosts for this SAHRR.

I will be linking up at @Quilting Gail.    Thanks so much to Gail for hosting this again, it was so much fun last year!

Thanks for stopping by!
