Slow Sunday Stitching

This week has whipped by at lightening speed, but not my projects.  I got my SS check so went grocery shopping.  John and I both had dental hygiene appointments, John's a little eventful, as he slipped out down in his wheelchair as I was pushing him over the cobblestone-like sidewalk into the dental office.  We had to have firemen come and put him back in his chair.  He wasn't hurt, and he wanted to proceed with his x-rays and appointment.  Needless to say, after that event, I didn't feel like sewing.    I have 3 more Hands 2 Help quilts to quilt, but luckily baby sized, as my Juki machine I use on my quilting frame has a problem, the hand wheel is somewhat frozen.  I need to take it in to be looked at, as I have only had it not even 5 months, and it is still under warranty.

I did get my One Stitch at a Time project by Kathy Schmitz done.

I've been working on the Crazy Quilt boho purse front for a graduation present for my granddaughter's good friend.  This is my One Monthly Goal for this month, and I will be sliding in under the wire if I can pull this off.   It is an under the sea theme.  The mermaid and seaweed were laces my friend Nicki dyed.  Her shop on Etsy is called Raviolee Dreams.  I cut off the tail that came with the mermaid and used that fan-shaped piece of lace my friend Cathy's Crazy by Design sent me for this project.  I embellished over the mermaid body and added hair.

I still have a lot more to do on the left hand side.  I intend to have more stitching, seaweed, fishes, and some pearls tumbling out of that clamshell, which is just lying there right now, not stitched down yet.

So for my Slow Sunday Stitching this week, I will be working on the crazy quilting above, plus I have binding to sew down on this Hands2Help quilt for Mercyful Quilts.

My granddaughter Klara is spending time with her other grandmother this week in Arizona this week, and lost her first tooth!

I'll be linking up with Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching.   Head on over there and check out what other's have been stitching!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  6. Oh my goodness, what a thing happen to your husband whilst at the dentist, and to have to call firemen to help him back into the chair! You both must be relieved that no brokens were broken and the he is okay. Your finished heart is lovely; I think the words remind me of you. A sweet photo of your Klara...just look at that sweet smile. The loss of one's first tooth is a momentous occasion. As for your Crazy Quilt Boho purse you are embellishing; it is gorgeous. So much lovely detail to inspect, and the mermaid with that gorgeous fan tail is the star isn't she. She is gorgeous. Enjoy your Sunday, Karrin, adding pretty detail to this piece.

  7. I have to take a sewing machine in for repair too. I can still sew on it but the needle threader on it broke and I really depend on it.

An eventful trip to the dentist, for sure!

  10. Oh my goodness, that must have been alarming for both you and your husband when he slipped from his wheelchair. I hope he's okay -- and you, too! I don't think I would have felt like sewing after that, either.
Your One Stitch at a Time block is beautiful. And so is Klara. She has such a sweet, pure face.

  11. What a week! Sorry to hear about John’s wheelchair incident. Glad he was fine to continue his appointment. Klara is so cute! Remember when losing teeth as a kid was a cool thing? And of course I love your mermaid and other UTS embellishments on the boho bag! O
