Slow Sunday Stitching, and Giveaway, Selvage Bag

Time to report in again for Slow Sunday Stitching @Kathy's Quilts.

It has been a tough week this past week for our family.   Our son-in-law passed away suddenly.  He was a trucker, stopped his truck in Utah, called 911, and by the time emergency personnel got there, he was gone.   Not sure what reason yet, I think he had heart problems,    The earlier this week, John's brother passed away.  He had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January, treatment was delayed because of Covid-19, but then had radiation.  He was in rehab for awhile, and they were planning to put him in a long-term facility.  They went to pick him up that morning and he was gone.  I kept waiting for the third thing to happen, but decided John sliding out of the wheelchair last week was #1.  So that means we have had all three and don't need to anticipating anything else!

So last week I was working on a Boho bag.  I am happy to say I finished it, and gifted it to the recipient today.

Granddaughter Kyleigh happened to be at lunch with Isabella and her sister Madelyn, and brought them over after lunch.  Isabella was thrilled!

If there is anyone interested in making their own Boho Bag, I found I have 2 booklets, and don't need a second one.   I'd be happy to send it to the first person who comments they would like it.

I was able also to get my Hands2Help quilts in the mail this week.  You can read about it here.

What I will be slow stitching on this Sunday will be my tea towel, transfers by Stitcher's Revolution

I will also be working on my secret applique project.

I have one other giveaway to anyone who is interested.  I have a large freezer baggie of selvages.  I have decided I am never going to do anything with.  So the first person who contacts me and tells me they are interested, I will send them to.  Otherwise I am going to be throwing them away.  I have too many projects to worry about selvages.

My hydrangeas are looking beautiful this week even despite our over 100 degree weather for 3 days!

I'll be linking up to Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching.  I greatly appreciate this weekly motivation!  Head on over and check what other's have been working on.

  3. Karrin, I am deeply saddened to read of your son-in-law's sudden passing and the passing of your husband's brother. How dreadful for you all. You have had to face so much hardship of late. Please take care as you do all that has to be done this coming week. Before I go, let me say how beautiful Isabella's boho bag is. It is a most gorgeous finish. Thinking of you and your loved ones. Your bag came out beautifully and getting to see those 3 must have been pure sunshine in a difficult week.

  11. Oh my gosh, look at those hydrangeas! Mine never gets over a foot tall and I'm lucky if it has one bloom! None last year, and this year, it looks like it's all but dead, and only about 4 inches tall. I'm envious, I admit it! I loved being able to get a close-up on the beautiful Boho bag. That is a treasure. It would be so hard to use it, knowing how m uch work is in it and what a beating it could take out in the world.

You know I'm so sorry about all the hardship for your family this week. You are in my prayers every night, along with John and your step-daughter, too.

  12. Condolences of your loss!
I think it's good to be able to sit down to sew when life is tough. Occasionally, our hobby is therapy. Your bag was very nice! I love the embroidery on your tea towel.
