Slow Sunday Stitching

Most of my slow stitching this week has been working on my hexies at night for the #100hexies100days2021 being hosted by @sewfoxymama on Instagram.  This week the theme was  rainbows.  I only had 1 tiny piece of rainbow fabric, so each night I am working on a different color.  Next week the theme is party or celebration, I have no clue what I am going to do then.

So for my Slow Sunday Stitching I will be working on more hexies.  I plan to link up to Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching.  Head on over and see what everyone has been up to!

It's been another busy week otherwise.   I have been trying to get 2 hours done on my free motion quilting each day, sewing on my sampler, which is part of the requirement for the Free Motion Quilting Academy graduation by HollyAnne Knight @String and Story.  There are 30 motifs, 30 squares in my sampler, and I need to stitch each motif on one of the squares.  I have 8 done so far.  This semester will be graduating the first part of May, so I am trying to get motifs stitched out.  Some I am a bit better at than others, none are perfect.

I was stitching the other day, and and was almost finished with this continuous curves block, and I ran out of bobbin thread here.

Here are samples of some of my work.

I made us a pineapple upside down cake this week.  It has been yummy!

My grandson Jaeger is graduating this year, and my daughter posted his picture.  Hard to believe it is time for this already, the years pass so fast!

As a reminder, the Salt and Sand blog Hop, hosted by Carol @Just Let me Quilt starts next week.  The list of participants is below.  Can't wait to see everyone's creations.  My day is on Tuesday the 23rd.

  9. Your hexagons are coming along nice! Quilting stitches are interesting and isn't if fun to run out of bobbin thread - I am learning finally on the long arm how to deal with it.... If I could eat wheat I would order that pineapple upside down cake it looks so good! Have a great Sunday. Hugs

  11. You have made a lot of pretty hexies. I am thinking of making a pineapple upside down cake for Easter. I haven't made one in a long time. Yours looks delicious. My sewing machine doesn't allow you to drop the feed dogs. I have always wanted to try free motion quilting, but it will have to wait. Congratulations to your grandson!

  13. Even though I follow my mother's pineapple upside cake recipe, it has always seemed a bit on the dry side. Love that type cake!
