It has been another whirlwind week for me, with a lot of driving.
Last weekend daughter Katie had an overnight with some friends of hers and she saw these insects at the friend's house. She went looking for them in the mark down section at 3 Targets with no success. She wanted 2 bees, a dragonfly or snail. They are gold painted plaster figures. I don't know why this was so important, but I volunteered to go to another 2 Targets to look. I finally found what she wanted at the last Target, and took a picture on my dash.
Also this week I had my mini quilt group. I turned in my little chicken coop block. This is our mini group project, to make all sorts of house. I myself did the chicken coop, a lighthouse and Victorian house. We are getting this put together in the next couple of months and will either be an auction quilt for our guild, or a community service project.
I finished the sewing of my binding on my Time in the Bottle Blog Hop project. I'll be sharing my project on the 18th next week. I also worked on this Kathy Schmitz One Stitch at a Time project.
I finished another Ella Maria Deacon block, and I don't see that I shared the last one I finished. I think I have 5 blocks left to do, 3 applique and 2 paper pieced, which is not my forte.
This week I have also been working on my brother and SIL's lighthouse quilt. They put in a new kitchen floor for me last summer, and their payment is a king-sized lighthouse quilt. I found this panel in my stash and this will be the center of the quilt. The blocks I am working on were part of a block of the month I acquired many years ago, and is nowhere near a king size. So I am going to use these blocks, the center panel and probably some Storm at Sea blocks. I will have to have someone else quilt this for me, as my set-up is not big enough to quilt a king sized quilt.

I had a less activities this week, so I was able to get a little more accomplished.
First thing this week, I was able to get the guild community service quilt quilted and bound. I am glad to have this off my plate.
I also pieced the components of a crazy quilt Boho Bag for my friend Jandra. She loves Minnie Mouse and hearts and took a picture of one of her figurines with a backdrop of some heart fabric so I printed it up on some silk fabric and incorporated it into the front flap piece.
My next steps are to add the embellishments: Lace, beads, buttons, charms and stitches. This is what I will be working on for Slow Sunday Stitching. I will be linking up with Slow Sunday Stitching at Kathy's Quilts. Head on over and check out what everyone has been working on.

I am a couple of weeks behind on the 6th and last round of the Stay At Home Round Robin which was hosted by Quilting Gail. You can read all about it here. Each week one of the co-hosts gave us a different prompt for the border to put on your little quilt. The sixth round was prompted by Chris @Chrisknits and it was to make Shoo Fly Blocks.
This quilt I intend to donate to Hands2Help this year, and so it measures about 59x70. It was a windy day yesterday when I finished it.
It was a bittersweet day yesterday when I pieced this last border. I almost used up two fabrics that I had purchased back when I first started quilting in 1994 or so. The red was my first quilt, a red and green applique quilt, and the blue was a Brannock/Patek Moda print I have always loved. I have enough to cut up into scraps of both of these prints now.

Several months ago at my quilt guild meeting, they had grab bags of coordinated fabric. These sheets included with the bags of fabric lists items they suggested be made.
So my One Monthly Goal will be to make something, or many items with this fabric for my guild's community service or boutique.

I'm happy to say, I am able to link up my One Monthly Goal for February, and many thanks to Patty @Elm Street Quilts for this monthly motivation.
I stated my goal for February here, which was to quilt and bind one of the community quilts for my quilt guild. It was a small one, and I figured it would not take me very long.
Trouble was, I had only quilted 1 quilt around Christmas on my new Handi Quilter Moxie. I looked up late last week to see what my One Monthly Goal was, as I have had so many activities taking me out of the house. When I did get started quilting this quilt my machine would start out fine for about a 6 inch square, and then would start making birds nests underneath. So I ended up quilting almost a pass, then I would look at the bottom and see the nests, and pick the nests out. I learned that I could sit under the frame and pick out the mess from the bottom instead of bending over, which was getting to my back.
The thread kept jumping out of the tension disks. Finally, yesterday, I looked at the diagram for threading it again and I apparently missed a step. I was able to finish. I was able to finish sewing down the binding this morning. I'm happy to get this one off my to-do list!

Three weeks have flown buy again. At that time I was working on this project, and I finished it.
I also got a few more rows on my Stay at Home Round Robin. Last week's round was Shoo Fly blocks, which I have not yet had a chance to work on.

Another thing that has happened this last week, is that Pat Winter, one of my crazy quilt friends nominated me on Facebook for Artist Challenge to post a picture a day of one of my crazy quilt pieces, or anything artistic I have done. Below are some of my crazy quilt pieces, or bags.
This is a class I took with Judith Baker Montano, and she featured us students in her book that came out afterwards called Fibre Art Montage.
One year I was in a journal project where we made a block a month, and I started making blocks with pictures of my family and embellishing them. I have a lot more to go, as the last one I did of my girls they were really little.
I transferred a picture of my parents when they got married.
This was of me and John. Back in the 70's he played me Neil Diamond songs. One one of the Neil Diamond covers, he had an embroidered shirt. So I embroidered John one. I think when this picture was taken was the only time he actually wore it!
This was a block of my girls when they were about 5 or 6.
When my girls were little, my MIL made them each a Holly Hobby quilt. I showed her a picture and she put her own spin on it. The Holly Hobby was rather large, and she had a pocket in which my MIL made a little Holly Hobby doll. That little turquoise object in the bottom middle of the block was the Holly Hobby doll's bonnet. I found a little lace Holly Hobby motif, and I embellished it with embroidery.
This last block was of John and his mom.
