This past 3 weeks has flown by and I have accomplished a lot. I did finally finish my Flourishes block, and I hand-appliqued the next block too, just in time for my 2018 Finish-A-Long goal for quarter 3.
I started working again on Sweet Land of Liberty by Cheri Payne. I had done one block 7-8 years ago.
Then I hand appliqued the saltbox house Susan had found. I had to rearrange things a bit to get them to fit. I also pieced my USA. The S gave me fits, but I am finally satisfied.
In the process of looking in the closet for some primitive and patriotic fabric, in a bag, I found that I had a class a number of years ago on another Cheri Payne quilt called Crow's Foot. It was in the book Wednesday's Best. I had 13 out of 36 blocks made, so I went ahead and pieced the rest of the blocks. Right now I am working on hand appliquing the crows, berries, flags and branches. I probably should have used a darker black for the birds or used a lighter border, but I really liked the crinkle on the lightish black fabric.
My daughter was over and I was showing her this quilt and we looked at some of the other projects in the book, and she saw an Angel Quilt in the back she really loved. So I cut out the pieces, since I had the fabric out already, and have pieced part of it. I am in the the process of prepping the angels for hand applique also.
This hand Quilt Along is organized by Kathy@ Sewing Etc. This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another. If you have a hand quilting project and would like to joint our group, contact Kathy at the link below.
Welcome to Gretchen for joining us!
Thanks for stopping by!
Karrin, you have so man projects going at once, my head is spinning with it all! Two blocks done on flourishes is exciting news, you are motivated. I am not so good at appliqué that I would attempt multiple quilts at once. 😄 I am gathering my courage to get my next panel started!
ReplyDeleteLovely blocks! I love the primitive top, it has that good old down home feeling.
ReplyDeleteWOW!! Such a lot done! I love those appliqué blocks!! I have just started down the road of appliqué and still find it to be quite the challenge.
